

Not just content with extreme challenges James has also found a natural home in front of the camera and behind a desk penning books and articles.
James has written for The Telegraph since 1998 starting in sport and evolving to cover a whole raft of subjects, from the fashion in Milan to the surfing in Hawaii and a motorbike trip across Russia. 2010 will see James continue to cover a range of ‘outdoor’ topics, adventure and fitness, as well as sport.
2010 will see James feature in a documentary on the Discovery Channel this autumn following his experience in the Marathon de Sables earlier in the year. In addition, Discovery will be airing 'James Cracknell Takes on America'. Later in the year James will also be filmed cycling the Great Divide with Ben Fogle which will be shown by the BBC later in the year.
In 2009 James featured in the BBC documentary series
'On Thin Ice' aired on BBC 2 providing coverage of 'Team Qinetiq's' South Pole Race experience. This follows the award winning BBC documentary series: Through Hell and High Water, which covered James' successful attempt to row across the Atlantic with Ben Fogle in the 2005 race. The series aired in February 2006 to great acclaim and was repeated in July 2006.
Throughout 2008 James presented Channel 4’s coverage of the British Superbikes and filmed Rough Guide - Extreme for Channel 5. As an ITV Sport reporter James has also covered the Superbowl in the US, the Rugby World Cup 7s in Hong Kong, The Boat Race and provided nightly reports on the News at Ten throughout the Beijing Olympics. 2007 saw him hosting the popular Red Bull Air Races on Channel 4 and in the following year he co-presented the Red Bull Flugtag in
Hyde Park.
James has had both The Crossing- Conquering the world’s toughest rowing race (co-authored with Ben Fogle) and
Race to the Pole (also co-authored with Ben Fogle) published.
