James heads to John O'Groats

30/09/2011

This Saturday sees James and team mate Jerone Walters embark from Land’s End on the 842 mile journey to John O’Groats, in an attempt to set a new world record by cycling the entire distance – on a tandem! The current record, which is over 45 years old, is almost 50 hours. James hopes to raise sponsorship for Headway, the brain injury association, a cause that is close to his heart after an accident whilst cycling in America left him with a severe head injury.

You can track James’ progress to see how he’s getting on.

  • Was out cheering you guys on in a couple of places in southern Scotland, what a fantastic attempt ( a record doesn't remain for that long without a reason!) well done guys, you could see the effort going in from the looks on your faces...... it was swapping to the black bike that nobbled you.... white ones are always quicker :-)

  • A valiant attempt, but just goes to show how good the ride was of Pete Swinden and John Withers, all those years ago. And the route was about 20 miles longer (and hillier) as the Black Isle bridges weren't there then!
