James PB in Great North Run
James completed the 13 mile 2009 Great North Run on a sunny day yesterday (Sunday 20th September) in just 1 hour 18 minutes – over a minute faster than his target time. After suffering from a sore hip for the past few weeks, this was an incredible achievement.
"The hip was sore throughout the race, like I had been told it would be," says Cracknell. "What kept me going, though, was remembering what the consultant had said to me, which was that although running the race would hurt the hip, it wouldn't do any long-term damage. That's what I kept telling myself all the way round."

Record Attempt
To mark the launch of the Deloitte Ride Across Britain James decided to undertake his own cycling challenge and teamed up with Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Romero to attempt to break the non-stop mixed tandem Land's End to John O'Groats record. The current record is 51 hours 19 minutes and 23 seconds set by Andy Wilkinson and Lynne Taylor in 2000. James and Rebecca set off on Monday 3rd August but sadly were forced to abandon the attempt just over 500 miles and 30 hours in due to discomfort in Rebecca's knees. Both are extremely dissapointed and would like to extend their thanks to all of the people who came out to support them. Please see www.rideacrossbritain.com and www.telegraph.co.uk
